Not Today

She waited for the train

It would bring him back

Her life had been incomplete

Since he left her months ago

Missing the kind words he spoke

His touch that warmer her soul

Only a couple more minutes

Is all she would have to wait

Feeling the rumble under her feet

Ringing her nervous hands

Steading her shallow breathing

She lay across the cold hard tracks

Sadness swept through her

As she thought about  family

All the pain she would cause

But she missed him unconditionally

The train blew its whistle

Getting closer to making her whole

A lonely tear escaped

It would be over be soon

His face filled her mind

Begging and pleading with sad eyes

She knew he wouldn’t want this

This wasn’t her time

Rising from the tracks

As the train sped faster

Dusting herself off

She slowly walked away

She would see him again

When the time was right

They would be together

But not today
