hey! i'm new to the comic scene and i'm going to nycc this year, super exciting, and i was wondering do comic book writers and artists make you PAY to have them sign their books? Alsoo, super excited to meet you at nycc (even though I am super shy)
Don’t be shy!
Okay, the vast, vast majority of comic writers and artists do not ask anyone to pay for signatures or photos or things of that nature. Some may have a limit on the number of books they sign. A very very few classic artists might have a small fee, such as Neal Adams.
I never have a signing limit or fee for autographs, photographs, hugs or chats. :) Bring as many books as you like and I will find a way to sign them.
Those of us who have large signing lines at times MAY have our lines capped if we have panels or things that we have to get to, so if it’s important to get my signature, or Kelly Sue’s, or Matt Fraction’s, there is a good chance the line will get capped early and often, so keep an eye out for signing times and try to get there early, that’s my only advice.
Cool? Come say hi. I know it doesn’t seem like it, but I am very shy myself and sometimes find myself having a difficult time talking to even very kind people. I am not an extrovert, believe it or not. So come say hello so we can be shy together!
