Aatmic Science

The concept of Aatmic Science or Science of Soul itself raises a two-fold question. First, whether something like Soul exists; and secondly, if at all it exists, can it be known by a scientific method? Let us take up these questions one by one.

Atman or Soul is also known as the Self, the essence of our being, which is self-proven. Can we deny our self? Certainly not since the very act of denial presupposes a denier. Who is this denier? It must be a conscious agent. Then, what is consciousness? Is it the product of mind, or an epiphenomenon of the brain? Howsoever hard biological scientists have tried they have failed to locate the seat of consciousness in the brain. It cannot be, as a matter of fact, because of its very nature which is subtle and pervasive. It pervades and permeates the mind, rather the whole body. What permeates must be subtler than the thing permeated. Thus we can reasonably infer about the principle of Pure Consciousness which is subtler than body and mind. This is Soul. This is the Principle of Life, the underlying essence of all that exits – Sat.
