Reveals one author's perception of the violence and amorality of the old west (and Mexico). I thought there was good development of the character of Maria. A somewhat unlikely progression of her character, but very engaging. Author has avoided reliance on f-bombs to create "reality". I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
