It was the fifth day of May 2013. Antonio Servilla rose the glass and drank some water. He sat on the armchair and looked at the clock, it was eight a.m. He turned his head and looked at his framed medals on the wall. Some were awarded to him by USA Police and some newer ones by Interpol. He closed his eyes, and tried to get relaxed. He was 185 centimeters tall, with brown soft hair which he used to comb them to one side, he was somehow thin but he was a strong man, with a long face and nose and dark brown eyes, an attractive thirty six years old man.
After a few moments, his mobile phone began ringing. He opened his eyes, and whispered; "Damn device!" Then he took the phone and kept it on his left ear. He realized Sir Michael West's voice; "How are you Antonio, pardon me, no much time for greeting; I should ask if you can join us in an especial operation? If so; we'll be in your home at eleven" He was his commander in Interpol. Antonio replied him with a low voice; "Hi, I'm waiting to see you at the time."
Sir West entered Antonio's house and they smiled and shook hands. After greeting, Sir West said; "Have you heard about John Del Monte? He is the head of an international smuggling band that Italy Police has tried to arrest him on behalf of drug smuggling for ten years, but he's so clever and he always clears the traces behind his illegal intercourse." Antonio looked at his chief carefully and listened to his words. Sir West continued; "He is in his small island near Melbourne's borders on Bass Strait now. He has bought it about one year ago and we have exact evidence that he has received a shipment of cocaine costing about five million dollars. The Italian police have asked us to find this shipment and to arrest Del Monte." Antonio looked at his face for some moments; he was a kind man of about 50 years old whom Antonio respected so much. Then Antonio said; "I may ask for an army for doing this operation." Sir West replied; "Two governments are ready to serve you, detective! Italy and Australia are ready to devote some brigades of army to arrest the man who has gamed with them for many years, a famous smuggler. -"So let's go;" said Antonio.
That night they had taken seats on Chicago _Melbourne's flight. Antonio moved on his seat and said, "I will write a list and you provide it, please." Sir nodded his head; he took a paper and wrote something on it. Mr. West took the paper and read it,
"Police boats which will sail near all around the island with some ready frogmen on them,
equipment for inspecting a place including means for splitting the concrete ,
police dogs trained to find cocaine and weapons,
radars that fishermen use to locate the fish, it can show the frogmen under the sea,
air support since they may use aircrafts or helicopters to send the shipment out of the island,
and other necessary equipment for operating on the sea and on the ground."
Two days passed and Antonio was on the deck of a boat as he was watching Del Monte's island with a powerful binocular. Joseph Michlick, the Australian detective, had stood beside him. Antonio said, "What is that tall building on the island?" Joseph said, "It's a restaurant, Del Monte wants to change that island to a resort; on the other side of the island there will be a natural park, sport fields and piers for boats. People will go diving and swimming with sharks."
_"Can I go there"
"Yes, a boat gets the visitors from Melbourne's beach at nine every morning and takes them to this island."
"Well, go and check the search warrant for that island has been sent for us; also warn this and other two boats with radars to report me about every dubious motion."
Joseph went into the boat's room. A cool breeze caressed Antonio's face. "We're so lucky we're not here in summer." said the boat's commander, Lt. Robinson who was beside him. Antonio nodded his head. Then Joseph came on the deck and gave a paper to Antonio. It was a search warrant. Antonio said, "We should act fast before they emit cocaine from there." Some police boats moved toward the island by his order, and then a helicopter appeared suddenly in far scene. Antonio ordered they decreased speed and said it had probably brought his order. The helicopter came and dropped a carton on their boat. Antonio got it; It contained a pack with two tiny brown objects, a mobile phone, a beautiful golden lighter and two miniature objects of lemon chiffon color. He read the set's instructions. Then he had to explain it for Joseph; the brown objects were microphones which sent the sounds of their around to the lighter; then it received the sounds and could send them via satellite phone communication system to that mobile phone. Those very tiny objects were earphones which could be pasted in one's ears and he could listen to the sounds the mobile phone sent to them.
They reached near the island. Antonio asked if they were sure John Del Monte was on the island. They confirmed that. He announced all the police fellows that they would seek for a pack of cocaine weighing about 60 kilos or any other illegal objects or activities. Joseph said;" I think five million dollars will be equal with twenty five kilos of cocaine." Antonio replied, "This is a wholesaling dealing; so the price is less." After some moments, they stepped on a long wooden pier and went toward the island's buildings. Two sturdy men wearing crimson suits, stood in front of them and one of them said, "Pardon me, why have you come here?" Joseph showed him the search warrant. They smiled and opened the way for them. Forty police agents that twenty of them were with dogs were scattered and began investigating all on the land and in the buildings. Antonio, who wore dark sunglasses, looked at his watch; it showed ten o'clock in the morning. He walked all around there and watched everything carefully. He went into the restaurant and watched all luxurious things there; tables, chairs, and luster, walls and counter. No one was there. He went behind the counter and pasted a microphone under its edge as he tried not to be noticed if even is watched through security cameras. He went to the second floor and found the boss's room; its door wasn't locked. He entered the room and pasted another tiny microphone under a desk.
After eight hours, Antonio who walked in front of the restaurant's gate heard a dog's barking from back of the restaurant and he ran fast toward there. He saw a German dog was jumping up and down and the policeman, who was with it, could hardly keep it. Antonio got close to them and tried to cuddle the dog's head and murmured, "Stop, you're a good boy." Then he asked, "What's happened here?" The policeman looked at an open door behind the building and said with his Australian accent, "Tommy, my dog, felt something and he guided me to this door. I asked a worker to open it and he did so. We entered in it and got down from some stairs. Then we reached to a small store full of bags. We turned on the lamps; its floor had been framed of some square concretes. Tommy scent and went toward the middle concrete square and stopped there, yet suddenly he got mad and pulled me out of there." Antonio looked at a worker and asked him, "What is this?" He replied, "This is the store of pepper, salt and spicy." Antonio went into the store and ordered all the bags to be taken out and to be pursued carefully, they did so. After a while, he asked Joseph about them and he replied all were pepper and spicy. Antonio took a lens and looked at the stairs and ground carefully; he realized a grey powder on the ground. Then he ordered that store to be washed. The policeman whose dog had got mad asked; “Sir, can you tell me what happened for Tommy that he got so mad?” Antonio said; “Tommy had done well. He had felt something under a piece of concrete, but they had been so clever and had poured some pepper powder here. The poor dog had breathed this pepper into his nose and this had caused him to get mad.” Then they brought another dog and it guided them to a square concrete in the middle of store's floor. Antonio ordered them to dig that square with a strong drill. At that moment, Joseph came into the store and said John Del Monte was there. Antonio exited the store and looked around through the darkness of night, he realized a well-made man who was about six feet tall. The man came closer under the lamp's light. He was wearing dim grey suits and hat; as smoking a pipe. Antonio saw his face, wide shaved face, light blue eyes and a wide forehead were his specifications; he seemed to be about forty five years old. He brought his hand toward Antonio and Antonio shook hands with him. He laughed and said with an accent of Italian English; "Hi, good night. Can I get aware why the police have come to my still island and have tried to disrupt its peace?" Antonio replied; "Good night Mr. John Del Monte; I should tell that a judge has given us a search warrant to investigate here because there had been a report that some illegal activities had been done in this island; please excuse me because I have to do my duty." He said; "Well, do your job." Antonio said; "We will be here till tomorrow night. Please pardon us." Del Monte nodded his head.
_" Sir, I couldn't see any people and the restaurant's staff; why?"
_ "We haven't accepted any visitors since three days ago because we have some maintenance these days, so we've sent the staff for a short vacation. Anyway, I will be glad you visit here next; we will build a great hotel beside this restaurant in the future." Then he said goodbye and left there; as going away, he took his mobile phone and picked his assistant's number, July Rinella. Antonio watched him from his place and followed him as walking noiseless beside the wall. He heard Del Monte's voice; "Did you go to my room and played the puzzle game?"
July said; "Police didn't let me enter your room, but I'll do it from my computer."
_"Well; its password is shpo."
Antonio knew Italian tongue well for involving in some operations in Italy before. Then he returned toward the store; he took notes of some words he’d heard from Del Monte’s words; such as solving puzzle, password (shpo), computer in his room, and another computer; he also wrote the date and time, May thirteenth at eleven p.m.; however he could find nothing from them.
He reached to the store’s door; the drill’s noise could still be heard. When he entered the store, three policemen were there, one drilled the concrete and one pulled out the soil and concrete pieces. The police who was drilling there, said as breathing hard; “So strange, this concrete under the first layer is soft, having less cement, more sand and some thin cords.”
After a few moments he said; “Sir, look at here, this layer is like flagstone streets, with slippery small round stones.”
Antonio looked at it, he nodded his head and they continued digging the ground. Then they reached to layer of natural soil and stones. Antonio ordered they brought a dog there. They stopped working and a police got his dog to smell the dug part and everywhere in the store, but it didn't show any sign that there had been something suspicious there. Antonio got so surprised, confused and angry. They brought three other dogs but the result was the same. Antonio sat and took some pieces of concrete; one of them had a very slippery layer on it. They got nothing and were very upset and left there. After many hours; they had investigated half of that island including restaurant and its buildings. They found nothing there and went for a rest while by Antonio's order they had to watch that area in turns.
By the next morning, Antonio went behind the restaurant and dropped the lighter behind a shrub. It could receive the sound waves from two microphones he had inserted in the building up to a distance of five hundred meters.
The police searched the other side of the island for many hours but they couldn't find anything. Antonio apologized from Del Monte and they left the island.
On the boat, Antonio said to Joseph, “I’m sure there was something on that small store and dogs felt it but I can’t understand why those dogs couldn't sense it again.” Joseph said; “Yes sir, it was a good opportunity for us, but we lost it.”
_”We have a chance. I've installed two microphones there; please order two of your agents to come here. They should know Italian and English languages well."
Two policemen came there and saluted to him; Antonio said to them; " I'll give you a phone and a pair of ear phones, one of you keeps the phone, if it rings, he pushes the green button on it, it broadcasts the sounds which it receives from the restaurant; Please listen to it carefully and take notes of important data you hear and inform me about every suspicious matter. But the other policeman will paste the earphones in his ears, when they ring, he should push one of them and he hears the sounds of Del Monte's room. Then he should act like the other police, did you find this well?"
They said; "yes sir;" and left there.
Antonio asked Joseph; "When we were in that small store, Monte had a mobile phone call, can you find out whom he called at eleven o'clock that night?"
Joseph called the Center and then he said to Antonio; "He'd called to his major assistant, July Rinella."
Antonio went into the boat's room and tried to sleep. All the events caused him to get mixed up, digging that store's floor, two kinds of different concretes there, round smooth stones, a flat layer under those concrete pieces, Del Monte asking his assistant to play a puzzle, the password shpo and the dogs. He thought for some hours and suddenly got up and cried; "I'm a real fool man."
Joseph and other two policemen who had slept there got up and looked at him surprisingly. Joseph asked, "What's happened sir?"
He replied; "I found why our dogs detected cocaine in that store and then it was disappeared. Those pieces of concretes are pieces of a sliding puzzle. The dog sensed the drug; we began digging the floor and just then Del Monte asked July Rinella to play a puzzle on her computer, as she was playing the puzzle on her computer, in fact she was changing the place of soft pieces of concretes under a layer of solid concretes of that store's floor."
Joseph said as so shocked; "This seems to be impossible."
_" A slippery layer of concrete can slide on the slithery round little stones under it."
A policeman asked, "So what moves these pieces of concretes?"
Antonio said, "I don't know, but I should find it."
In the morning, a police informed them a helicopter had landed on the island. Antonio warned their central office about that. John Del Monte got on the helicopter alone and ordered the pilot to take him to a hotel in Sydney. After about ninety minutes, the helicopter returned to the island again. Antonio got more confused when he heard the commander explained for him by wireless set that an army airplane had filmed from the helicopter by strong cameras from the moment it had flown from the island to the time it went and landed on the roof of a hotel in Sydney. Del Monte had got off it on the hotel's roof and then the helicopter had returned to the island immediately. They hadn't seen any doubtful activities in this movement.
Antonio told his chief, "Well, check the guests of that hotel, I think they want to send that shipment to a major smuggler who they might visit in that hotel."
He asked Joseph if they had received any valuable data from the microphones and he said nothing.
Afterwards Joseph asked," Sir, I feel we can be friends; if this doesn't bother you, I'd like to ask if you live alone, wife or any children you have? Beg my pardon. "Antonio turned his face to him and looked at him for a while, he wasn't used to relate with people, and he usually liked to be hermit but he decided to talk to Joseph. He replied; "I was with a woman for five years in about ten years ago, she was a pretty and kind woman, her name was Jane. We were exciting lovers and I decided to marry her; but suddenly she was changed, she told me she couldn't be married with me and then one day she was disappeared. I tried to see her again and I searched everywhere, but I couldn't find her. After that; no woman was like her for me. Now, I live alone. I will be happy having a friend like you, you can call me Tony." Joseph smiled and said; "Thanks Tony, you made me happy too much, I hope me to be competent of your friendship, however please let me call you Sir within our operations." Antonio nodded his head and went into the boat's room. He saw the policeman that had that spy mobile in hand. Antonio said if he had heard any significant thing or not. He said there had been nothing. Then it began ringing. Antonio told him hit the button to hear the sounds it sent from the restaurant. It played a man's voice, he was talking as gaffing like a drunken man,"Do you prefer to be dropped in chief's shark pool? Of course I think your unsavory meat will sicken those sharks." Another man's voice was heard as talking angrily, "Fool man, If Sir Monte finds you've talked about that…… ". The mobile was turned off. They thought someone might have found the lighter and had taken it away from the restaurant. Antonio thought and repeated the word shark pool. Then he suddenly uttered (shpo), he murmured; "This was the password of the puzzle game which Del Monte talked about; (shpo) can be the shortening of the words (shark pool)."
He thought this could be an important trace. He contacted with their commander and asked, "Can you issue permission for a secreted operation? I want to go to that island and investigate about an important case."
It got dark; Antonio was on an inflatable boat, a fellow was oaring the boat toward the island, when they reached to diving point near the island; Antonio jumped into the sea. Under the water, he began progressing toward the island as holding the handlebars of a small underwater scooter that pulled him toward there. The sea was a little wavy; it was getting cold although he had put on tight diving suits. He thought how he could find a place called ((shark pool)) on the island. A light brightened his way; he could see the fish and creatures that escaped in his front. He came toward the surface and turned off the light, suddenly the scooter came out of water and took him up, and he pressed its brakes levers to decrease its speed. He looked to the island; he had strayed a little toward left side from his path to the island's pier. He corrected his way and reached near the island's wall under the water. He turned the scooter off and kicked forward by swimming. He suddenly saw some light beside the wall. He got so surprised seeing three frogmen, who appeared beside the wall one by one, then he turned off his light and hid behind some sea seaweeds .One of the men put his hand on the wall and a door turned on the wall and covered a hole on it. They swam away and left there, Antonio went to the place they had been appeared from; he put down his scooter under a small rock and looked at the wall after he'd turned on the light. There were only stones and sea plants on the wall. He searched for some moments and abruptly found a hilt. He pulled it and a stone moved and a room appeared on the wall, he swam in it. It was like a diving chamber; then he searched on the walls and found two hilts. Under them he read, ((water evacuation hilt)) and ((air evacuation hilt)). He took the water evacuation hilt and wanted to pull it down, but he suddenly thought whether Del Monte would let someone to enter to his dominion so easily. If he had written this guidance inverse, this might become a deadly trap for him. His heart began beating hard; he stopped for a moment in suspense and then pulled down the air evacuation hilt instead. The outside door was closed and the water in that chamber was emptied within some moments. A door was opened on the wall of the room's end. Some light brightened the room; he took off his fins and oxygen capsules, he wanted to take off his gloves but he thought that wasn't a good idea. Then he went to the door and went out of the room so warily; he turned his head around. It was a wide bright hall, its walls and floor were covered with pretty light blue ceramics, and he was frozen when he realized parts of a wide pool on the floor. He went forward; he looked around and grasped the entrances of two corridors on left side and on right side walls of the hall. He went toward the right corridor, he reached beside the pool. He got so shocked when he looked into the pool; some great dangerous sharks were swimming in it. He looked at them terribly; there were four great sharks, from seven to fourteen feet tall. The pool was more than twenty feet deep, about four feet of its level was empty and it had been covered with metal thick pipes not letting the sharks to jump out, a great shark can jump to the height of about twenty feet. He reached to the corridor's entrance; he saw three doors on the corridor's wall. Suddenly he heard a bass voice of a man from his behind talking in Italian tongue; "Where do you go Robert, you know you can't enter that corridor." Antonio lifted his helmet a little and said while trying to change his voice, "I heard a strange sound, I wanted to check it."
_"Why don't you put away that foolish helmet? By the way, when do you want to pay back my money?"
Antonio turned his eyes and saw that man and the sharks, he was alone. Only a thought passed fast from his brain, "I have to kill this man, if they get aware I'm here, they will hide the cocaine and we can never find it." He said," Come here, I want to give back you the money just now."
That man who was on the other corridor came and stood behind Antonio. He said, "Where are two your other fellows? You were three frogmen when you went out." Antonio turned back and suddenly hit a strong kick to his belly. The poor man put his hands on his belly and sat on his knees, he groaned, "Why Robert?" Antonio said, "I'm not Robert;" and he hit under man's chin by his knee. He fell back and his back head hit the hard ceramics of the floor. He got comatose, Antonio took his shirt and while pulling him to the pool's edge, said, "I'm sorry, you will be food of these huge fish; by this way, they can't understand someone has been here, it will seem like an accident." Then he dropped him into the pool as trying his body to pass through the pipes; the man went toward the pool's bottom, his nose's blood made a trace through the water, he suddenly was recovered and tried to swim to the water's level, yet a great shark came to him and turned around him. Antonio couldn't watch that direful scene, he went toward the corridor, and he heard the water's splashes that were the signs of sharks' moving while mammocking that poor man. He saw some blood on the ground and cleaned there by a handkerchief he took from his small bag fastened to his suit. Antonio wanted to open the doors on that corridor but all of them were locked; he took a tool from the small bag and hardly opened a door by it and entered a room; he lightened the lamp. There was a desk and some armchairs in it; he saw a laptop and the mount of Del Monte on the desk. He turned the laptop on but it needed password and Antonio was so afraid, so he turned it off. He went behind the desk and opened the desk's drawers, but he didn't see any significant thing there except a visit card of Del Monte, this was his room doubtlessly. He saw a small piece of paper and had a look at it, he read a note; "The shark will get ready on May the third …" Then he went out; no sound could be heard then. He opened another door and went in, it was a big room. The walls and the floor were white and bright. He got shocked and jumped back after he saw what was on a long table in that room, a huge shark of about fifteen feet tall, its belly had been rifted. He went beside the table while was so feared. He touched it; he murmured some words, "The shark pool, cocaine, a note about a shark here, four sharks in that pool, a shark with ripped belly here and the password shpo." He thought they might put the cocaine in this shark's belly, so he embedded his hand into its body and searched well but there was nothing in it. He looked around and saw some devices and some batteries on a corner, he looked at them carefully but he didn't perceive anything of them. Suddenly a thought came to his mind and he went to the first room. He took a pen from the desk and then took a lens from his bag. He searched around the desk via that lens; he saw some hairs under the desk. He whispered; "I hope these are Del Monte's hair and his fingerprint would be on this pen and I hope they use that shark to transfer the drug." He went to the first room and found a small can of liquid glue from the desk's drawer. Then he returned to the table the shark was on it; it was a big white shark. He got his bag and pasted that pen with a small drop of the glue into the shark's body, and then he put those hairs in that body. He came out; although it wasn't hot there but tight diving suits needled him. He locked two doors he had opened and unlocked the door of the third room, it was an empty room, he examined all the walls but he found nothing. He locked its door and went to the pool, its water had got bloody and some pieces of that poor man's yellow blouse moved on the water. Antonio thought they shouldn't find anything, but they might have installed a CCTV security there. He looked everywhere prudently; the walls and the ceiling, yet he found nothing. He moved around the pool and turned off all the lights, then he took a small binocular and sought everywhere by its infrared system; at last he found a hidden CCTV on the wall just under a lamp. He turned on the lights and then opened the CCTV by a Paige driver; he took out a small memory from CCTV's back and dropped it on the ground and tried to ruin it. He began hitting on it by the back of the Paige driver. After every hit he listened to sounds around so carefully. He was a little afraid. After a while he put the memory and CCTV on their places. He looked in the pool, the water was cleaner and there was no cloth in it, in fact there was no sign of that man's death in the pool. He was scared that somebody was there; he looked into the pool and found some holes on its walls; he smiled and murmured; "Well, the sea water enters to this pool and exists from another way from rather big holes, so the blood and pieces of clothes of that unfortunate man have been swept away automatically." Afterwards; he went to the iron thick door that he had entered through it first, and pulled down the door's knob, the door got opened. He entered the diving chamber and put on his fins and oxygen capsules, and then he looked at two hilts, he murmured; "I pulled down the air evacuation hilt before and the water evacuation hilt worked, so what should I do now? I think this time I should pull the right one because they think no one can enter here." He pulled the air evacuation hilt down while he was so afraid and sweat drops slid down on his face. A hole was appeared through the front door and sea water entered that room, then when it was filled with water, that door was opened and he swam out of the chamber into the sea; the air spumes were exiting from his hamlet and rose toward the sea level. He saw the door's handle on the island's natural wall and pulled it down; the door turned and was shut. He swam to the place he had left the underwater scooter and took it.
After fifteen minutes, he came to the sea level, turned off the scooter's engine and pressed a button on his diving wristwatch, he said, " Hi, center, this is swordfish, get it on the point…."
He was contacting with the police boat. They sent a small boat and took him.
In the next morning, Antonio got up and sat on the bed, he felt pain in his muscles. He ate a glass of milk with some cake and went out of the boat's room; Joseph had stood on the deck. Seeing Antonio, he welcomed him warmly. He said; "As you mentioned last night, I think they will use those sharks for an important case; otherwise there is no reason they take care of suchlike creatures." Antonio nodded his head. Then the wireless honked and Joseph said, "Yes, this is the swordfish."
Sir West was heard in the wireless, "I want to talk to the swordfish." Joseph gave the set to the Antonio, _"From swordfish to the orca whale, I hear you." West said, "Their head has contacted with a man, see your inbox." Antonio had sat in front of the boat's computer after a moment, and he opened an e-mail, he read, "A powerful French man named Henri Reine has settled down in the hotel in which Del Monte had taken a room; this man is suspect to be the head of a band responsible for distributing illegal drugs in the southern and eastern parts of Europe excluding Italy. They had visited each other in a restaurant last night."
Antonio contacted to the Center again; _"Yes, this shows they will send the food soon; thanks, now if it is no other case, I cut the connection."
_ "Thanks; yes, we should go. Please be careful, we can't let him get released this time, goodbye."
In the evening,; July Rinella along with two men entered the building on the island. She was a pretty brunette woman. She had long face, black curly hairs and black eyes. They got down some stairs and entered a room under the restaurant. There was a painting tableau of a beautiful young woman on the wall, July stood in front of the painting and put her fingers on its eyes, the eyes of the painting moved to their right and then the tableau came out with a tick sound. She pressed it to left and a path appeared on the wall, they entered in that path and pulled the tableau to its place. There was a long vestibule; they walked for a few minutes and reached to a metal door and opened it with a key. Behind the door, they paced on a short corridor that led to the shark pool. They reached to the pool. July said, "Frank, the operation (Shark) should be started at 5 this evening. Connect the trackers to these sharks and perform the other instructions." Frank said; "I don't know where stupid Marko is, I can't find him from morning. He came here to take something for me." They couldn't imagine Antonio had sent him into that pool. July said as so surprised, "Here? And he has got disappeared? This is unusual. Go and check the film of CCTV security since this morning."
Frank went to the other corridor and unlocked the boss's room's door, and then he came and said the laptop had been off. He took out the CCTV's memory and returned to the room to watch it on the laptop. After a while he came out and said the memory didn't work. July got angry and said, "This isn't natural. Stop the operation, I should contact with the boss."
She contacted to Del Monte and reported him about the case. He replied her that they had to begin the operation ((Shark)) on time and they have no other choice, but they had to be more careful.
A fishing hook turned on the air and embedded in the water; Antonio while pulled his left foot back and had kept fishing stick and lancer with his hands said, "Hey Joseph, I can't stay here anymore, in this boat on the sea. If we can't gain anything till tomorrow, I'll abdicate from this operation; what about you?" Joseph said, "But I like this operation; we can grasp a great hunt. This is a very vital operation; we've got so close to him." Antonio laughed and said; "You are a dutiful policeman, but you think Del Monte is important for me? Do you think if we arrest him anything will be changed? No; we may work hard for months to arrest a smuggler, but drug smuggling won't stop; in fact nothing changes. Do you know if I was a little bad luck last night and one had come to that pool; where I would be today? You should find me in those sharks' belly. By the way, what time is it? "Joseph replied, "It's seven, I think you can't take a fish in this dark sea." Then a police came and said, "Our radars show some objects that seem to be sharks are going to a point near Del Monte's island's dock." Antonio said, "Contact to all radar crews and tell them to try to note all the data and exact number of sharks which get to the island and report them to me."
After a while the man came and said, "Sir, about five sharks went to a point near the island, but when they returned toward the sea; their number was about ten." Antonio who had already put away the stick said, "Joseph, I think the shipment is related to these sharks, so they should have installed trackers on them, go and try to trace these creatures."
Joseph said, "How did they do this?" He replied, "There are two ways for guiding this creature to a specific point, first, one pours some blood on the water, and the second, some use special radio waves that absorbs the sharks." Then Antonio took a binocular and began watching the island and the restaurant by its infrared system. Joseph went to the boat's room and after a short while returned and said as so excited, "Sir, you were right, we realized two sharks with tracers, and I ordered two of our boats to chase those sharks."
Antonio said, "Forget my words about leaving here; this case attracts me little by little."
After forty-five minutes, Antonio contacted with those boats that chased the sharks, the sharks had followed two separate paths toward the ocean. Antonio thought for a while and said to Joseph, "This isn't a logical act to use the sharks for carrying something." Joseph replied, "Yes, it's a great risk for them to send such a costly shipment with sharks, this case has got so complex and confusing."
_"Well, if it wasn't so, Del Monte had been imprisoned since years ago. However, we have a chance; every delivery has two head, a sender and a destination. I'm sure they have sent the load, so we should identify its destination." He asked the police center to seek for every suspicious ship or other vehicles that were around there. They also should control all the islands around there for any doubtful move. After a while, Joseph came to deck and said, "A fishing ship called Medusa is moving around the east side of the island just behind our boat, but the suspicious thing is that Albert Tracy, one of Del Monte's assistants has frequently rented it since eighteen months ago." Antonio cried, "That's it. Move toward there, tell our divers to be ready and put on their suits." Joseph smiled and went away to do his commands. Antonio contacted to the center and asked them to send some police boats from Melbourne shore to a point of about three miles away from the shady ship and watch it by powerful binoculars. He asked for a search warrant of that ship. Then their boat moved through the darkness of the night, Antonio was excited and hopeful that at last they might get prosperous. He stood on the tip of the boat and put his eyes on the eye-cups of a large naval binocular and turned on its infrared system. They sailed directly to the ship's position. Antonio didn't want them to get so close to the ship. After some moments he saw the ship and commanded the boat's crew to turn off its engine. It seemed that the ship was immobile with its motors off. The ship wasn't so big. Then he got aware that other police boats sent from Melbourne were watching the other side of the ship. He got cold, so he wore an overcoat and asked Joseph to watch the ship through that binocular. Joseph tried to watch the ship but the boat and the ship moved and he asked the police who was controlling the boat to move the boat to right or left or stopped it as Joseph rose his hands to right or left or above his head.
The only sound was heard in that dark sea was water waves' sound and a cold wind was annoying the men. The only things one saw, were the stars shining in dark and light reflex on the sea water. After a while, a policeman came out of the boat's room and said, "Sir, radars show a great object which seems to be a great shark is closing to our boat from west and its direction is toward the east; but it has no tracker."
Antonio murmured, "A mysterious great creature is moving from that island's direction and its way is toward this shady ship. That's so interesting. See; try not to lose this shark." Joseph said, "That's it sir, we can try to catch it." Antonio replied, "No, we should let this animal to reach to its destination, of course if it is really a smuggler shark!" Antonio looked at the sea and imagined that great shark was moving through water, he thought he was swimming there and suddenly that huge creature he had seen in the island came to him while it had opened its dreadful mouth and seeing its frightful teeth spread fear in his heart.
A few moments passed; he was reported the shark had reached near the ship. Then suddenly; Joseph said, "Sir, there is a moving over the ship's deck." Antonio hit on his shoulder and Joseph let him to watch through the binocular. Antonio watched the ship and realized some frogmen on its deck who dove into the sea. He called their divers to get on a small motorboat and to go near the ship. He asked about the shark's position and heard it was so close to the ship. He began watching the ship through the binocular. After a short while, those divers appeared on the sea level, and then he saw they tried to hold something on the sea level. He watched there more carefully and got so surprised when he saw the thing the divers try to keep was the body of a great shark that was floating on the water. Then a great prong was sent down from the ship's deck and was locked under the shark's body and took it up on the sundeck. Antonio had been frozen and said to Joseph, "Can you believe a huge shark moved some distance and stopped under a ship and then it let to be hunted?" Joseph said," What did you see there, sir?"
_I'll tell you later, now tell our divers not to jump into the sea."
Joseph contacted to the divers. Then he asked, "Can we inspect that ship without a search warrant?"
_"No; but Sir West has sent us it. We can do it."
_" Go fast toward the ship and tell the other boats which are near the ship to do so."
_"Yes sir;"
Their boat moved toward the ship and Antonio watched the ship by binocular. He saw the ship's anchor was pulled up from the sea and was locked to the ship's side. They reached to the ship and got up on its deck. Antonio went toward a big man who wore the captain's suit and cap. He was about fifty years old and he didn't have beard contrary to Antonio's supposition about a ship's captain.
The body of that great shark was motionless on the deck. The captain asked Antonio with an allophone voice, "What has happened here?" Antonio shook hands with him and explained to him about a search warrant of that ship. The police inspected all the parts and rooms of the ship but they didn't find anything. Antonio asked the captain, "Why had you stopped here?"
_"We followed a group of fish and we sent down our divers to find the fish but this great shark attacked to them." Antonio asked a policewoman with dog to go toward that shark. The dog moved around the shark and sniffed all around it, yet it didn't do any unusual act. Antonio said," Captain; this shark is suspected of carrying illegal drug! We should search its vivo." Captain's face got white and said, "This shark costs some thousands dollars and if you destroyed its body, you should pay for it." Antonio said, "No worry, we will pay to you." Then he went near the shark and ordered the policemen to make it into pieces. When they wanted to tear up and open its abdomen with a big knife, they all got frozen of what they saw in the lamp's light. Its belly had been fastened by a rope and when they pulled the rope and opened its nodes, the shark's belly was torn up. Instead of bowels, stomach and other body parts; there were wires, pipes, some powerful batteries and mechanical arms and devices in it. It was a huge robot shark! Antonio touched it; its body was so like to the real meat. It was made of synthetic materials and plastic. He looked at it carefully; he recalled it to be the shark he had seen on that shark pool's room. At that pool, he had got surprised why there was nothing in its body. He remembered these devices were at that room. Antonio took a lens and searched for the pen and hairs he had inserted in this body. Then he found them and put them in a small pocket. The police searched that carcass carefully but they found no sign of cocaine. Then he called the captain; he came toward Antonio with trembling slow paces. Antonio said, "Look at here; you have hunted a shark of aliens!" He replied as so feared, "Oh, how terrible, one gets mad of what he would see in this world. What is this?"
_" I tell you and you will confess everything for me. This is John Del Monte's toy that carried a dirty costly package to this ship. You will tell me where that package is; otherwise I'll behave you so that you will desire a shark to eat you every day for the rest of your life." Captain said, "I've got confused, I don't know anything about this." Antonio went into the ship's superstructure; he walked through narrow corridors and opened all thick and heavy rooms' doors. He entered a room and looked at all around but he didn't find anything, then he commanded a policeman who was there to leave. He took the pen which he had inserted in shark's body and pricked the glue spot of it by a knife. He was careful not to clear probable fingerprints on the pen.
He found a laptop on a room and took it out to the deck. He sat on the edge of a platform and turned it on. He found an icon with the shape of a spider named (counter) on its desktop. He clicked on it, but it needed a password to be opened, he called the captain and asked him about the password. Captain said that laptop belonged to one of the crews named Donovan Kiplinger. Antonio asked Joseph to take Kiplinger there. Then a handsome young man of about twenty five years old came there. Antonio asked him about the program and its password. He replied he had forgotten what it was. Antonio smiled and said, "Hey boy, don't ruin your life for the sake of dirty criminals. If you cooperate with us, I promise to assist you not to be imprisoned for a long time; otherwise I will write in my report that you've been a main criminal and you will live in prison for at least fifteen years. We can find the password ourselves but we don't have much time. If I find it myself, you will have no chance." But he didn't cooperate with Antonio. Antonio sent the file to the police center and asked the police specialists to try to find its password. The captain complained they should permit them to sail toward Sydney harbor; otherwise, police should pay for the heavy loss which the ship's owner was inflicted. Antonio said nothing and walked away; he thought for a while and opened the laptop again. He searched all its drives for the program ((counter)) and found it while that was a hidden file. He looked at its files, and then he called for one who knew computer files well. A policewoman named Carla Philips came to him. He asked her to look at files and their extensions. She did so and said, "Some software and file extensions such as (chm, mui and inf) are related to special video programs. Also, GPS programs and robot software are seen in this folder." Antonio thought for a moment and said to Joseph, "Counter program on this laptop, is surely the software that can control that shark. It sends massages through radio waves to the ship's antennas and from them to the receivers of that shark. The shark had been controlled from the island firstly and when it got close to this ship, it was controlled by this program. I'm sure the cocaine is here."
Then he ordered his men to search the ship again. Joseph said, "This shark doesn't have any propeller, so how does it move through water?" Antonio said, "It moves like a real fish, like Hollywood's robot sharks. I think it should have a tank that is filled with water and this causes it to go under water, then when it reaches to their desired depth, the tank stops being filled and the shark floats in water. This is like a U-boat." They went to the shark and found a water tank and a pump in its belly.
An hour passed and all the police fellows gathered on the deck and they said they found nothing. Antonio said, "Something is strange here, they could easily get the shark to the sea level and pull up it to the deck but they sent down some frogmen." He thought for a while and ordered some police divers to go under the ship and to control it. They did so but they found nothing. Antonio ordered all police to leave the ship. He went toward the ladder but suddenly he remembered something, he murmured, "The only thing from this ship which was under water when the divers dove into the sea, was the anchor." Then he asked them to stay there. He ordered a policeman to get down to the anchor; the policeman went down by a rope and investigated it. After a while he found a crack on the anchor and pressed the tip of a knife in it. A door was opened on it and he saw some pockets filled by white powder embedded in the anchor. He sent up the pockets, yes it was cocaine. Antonio ordered the captain and all the crew to be arrested and the police sailed the ship toward Sydney, he didn't want Del Monte to get aware of that event. He imagined the time the shark was under the ship; they had stopped it, then the divers had gone beside it and had taken the cocaine pockets and had placed them into the anchor.
Then he asked the policemen to take the objects and clues including hairs and the pen he had in his pocket and brought them to Melbourne and to investigate them as soon as possible. He asked them to examine the pen first for finding fingerprints.
After two hours, they reported they had found Del Monte's fingerprint on that pen. Then many police boats moved toward Del Monte's island. A reporter who was on a boat saw them and went after them toward the island. They reached to the island and arrested all guys there. Antonio shackled to Del Monte's hands and said, "You are a genius man, but I don't know why you've left your traces in that strange shark." Del Monte smiled and walked after some policemen toward the pier. That reporter wanted to come to the island and to catch up by camera but police didn't let him, and he sat on his boat and began catching up Del Monte with his powerful camera. Antonio looked at island and the restaurant, but suddenly he felt something was wrong, so he turned back and looked at Del Monte, he walked as his paces were erratic, some short and some long paces, he looked carefully and realized some stones on the ground that Del Monte tried to put his feet on some of them. Antonio ran to him and cried, "Stop him." But it was too late; suddenly a hole appeared on the ground and Del Monte was fallen in it and the hole disappeared again. The policemen sat and tried to find that hole but they didn't find anything. Antonio contacted with the divers who had gone to that shark pool but Del Monte hadn't gone there. Del Monte fell on a dark corridor and ran on it, he reached to a door and entered a room, and wore diving suits. Then he entered a chamber. He was breathing hard. He was very angry and he murmured, "How did this happen? What was my mistake?"
After a few minutes, he was moving through the sea water by a fast underwater scooter. Antonio had got so angry; he ordered the divers to search around the pier. He watched the stones on the ground, there were fifteen stones ordered on five rows. He looked around and suddenly saw the reporter with his camera on the boat. He ordered a policeman to take that reporter there. They brought him. Antonio asked him, "Did you catch up when that criminal escaped?" He said, "Yes, sir." Antonio pointed to him and he showed him the film on his camera's monitor. Antonio watched Del Monte as he was walking toward the pier. He watched that part of video for three times and at last murmured, "Stones number two, six, eight, twelve and fifteen. I should pace on these stones." He put his feet on the stones two, six, eight, twelve and fifteen. This time there was no hole, instead some low beep sounds were heard. Antonio cried, "Bomb." He, the reporter and a policeman began escaping fast from there. Del Monte who had got about one mile far from the island came on the sea level. He heard the sound of a great explosion from the island and said, "You should know a code that opens a gate for the first time, might explode that gate for the second time. By the way, I should welcome to my new identity."
Antonio was running fast that he heard a huge sound and felt something rose him up and dropped him to a far distance. Fortunately no one was hurt in that explosion. He got up and cleaned the dust from his clothes. He cried they should search all around the island for Del Monte by boats and helicopters. They did so for many days but they found nothing.
Antonio was curious that how that sliding puzzle worked. He went to the back of the restaurant and entered that small store. He ordered the floor of that store and other basements to be destroyed. At last they found the fact. All the concrete blocks had some hooks and some of them had electric motors that could send out metal slats. These slats would be locked in those hooks and could pull or push the blocks. A complex radio system commanded those motors to work.
