Very Interesting!

I have spoken before that Dynamite Comics has really impressed me with its forward thinking in the past year or so.

I once thought of them as a cheesecake company only, yet soon, they will have more female creators writing regular books than companies ten times their size, and they are producing genuinely interesting stuff with fantastic writers and artists.

Now they are doing a couple new things…I wonder if the rest of the industry will follow?

First, they are now offering their comics as DRM free on their Dynamite Digital website. This is a bigger deal than it sounds, it could even be a game changer.

Additionally, they are no allowing digital book payments in Bitcoin.

Now, I am not sure if these are going to change the other companies, but I find it very cool to be working for a company that seems to be keeping up with the desires of its readers in this way.

As an aside, they have a bunch of #1 issues up on their site for just ten cents each as a trial offer, and are offering a very cool bundle of some great books, 25 books for just ten bucks, or around 40 cents each, by some great creators (including some Red Sonja!).

Books included in the 10 dollar bundle are:

Project Superpowers #0 - 3 - by Alex Ross and Jim Kruegar
Jungle Girl #0 -1 - by Frank Cho and Doug Murray
Mocking Dead #1 - by Fred Van Lente
Sherlock Holmes: Trial #1 - 2 - by Leah Moore, John Reppion and Aaron Campbell
Kevin Smith’s Green Hornet #1 - by Kevin Smith, Phil Hester and Jonathan Lau
Red Sonja #1 - 2 - by Gail Simone and Walter Geovanni
Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time #1 - 3 - by Chuck Dixon
Legenderry #1 - by Bill Willingham and Sergio Fernandez Davila
Chaos! #1 - by Tim Seeley and Mirka Andolfo, main cover by J. Scott Campbell
Jim Butcher’s Dresden War Cry #1 - by Jim Butcher and Mark Powers
Pathfinder: Dark Waters #1 - by Jim Zub
Miss Fury #1 - 2 - by Rob Williams
American Flagg #1- 2 - by Howard Chaykin
Vampirella #1- by Eric Trautmann

Also, during this opening, a portion goes to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Very cool!

Like I say, I don’t know how this will shake out, but DRM free, and acceptance of Bitcoin is stuff people have been asking for…I am very curious to see what happens, here!

Note there is also some cool free wallpaper, I have the Jenny Frison Red Sonja up on my computer right now.
