An Interview and Giveaway with Author Jamie Lake

For those who aren't familiar with the Bad Boy series, tell us about it. It's a little different than most m/m books out there in that it's about a kindergarten teacher who becomes so financially strapped he has to resort to doing erotic massages at night in order to make ends meet. Along the way, he finally finds love with a cop who had no idea what he does for a living in secret. There's love, there's drama, there's hot steamy sex and there are tender moments. It's a true emotional roller coaster.
What made you think of the story for Bad Boy? It's actually loosely based on a true story and then my imagination went wild with "What ifs ...?" What if a mafia mogul was involved to? What if the whole world found out? What if the love interest was a cop who worked in the prostitution division?
Your main character is a kindergarten teacher. That’s unique. How did you create him? I tried to think of the last person you'd ever expect that would be an erotic masseuse. It kind of reminds me of my younger years when I'd go to stripper clubs and you'd find out that the person giving you a lap dance was actually college educated and nothing like what you thought they'd be and they were only doing it to make ends meet.
Why did you decide to make Chip a cop? Because I'm evil and I wanted to make it even tougher on my main character. Besides, what's hotter than dating a cop. I went on a few dates with a cop before and I've always fantasized about being pulled over and propositioned by one. Haha. Who hasn't?
Tony, your bad guy in the story is hot for your protagonist too. Tell us how you created him. I actually dated someone who was in the mafia before and had feds after him. Then again, I also dated someone who was in the FBI before. Fun stuff. You gotta use what's in your own life sometimes.
Why did you decide to make Peter a teacher that massages at night. Were you concerned you might get backlash? Definitely I was worried about that. Most people love the idea but some people are turned off by it. But to me, what's the difference between an actress who plays a hooker in one movie and then goes and does a kids movie after that? Or someone who writes erotica under one pen name and under their own name writes kids books? I think sometimes in America, especially we have such uptight feelings about sex. To me, as long as it's between two consensual adults and no one is being hurt, who cares?
