RANDOM ACT OF METAPHOR: October Flocks of Geese

Hmmm, two flocks of geese bisecting the sky in opposite directions against the stirring vista of October's extravagant panorama.

I wonder… Did the lead bird in each flock cast a glance in the passing and silently wonder: "Am I leading my extended family astray?" Did the obedient followers look at one another and mutter: "Should we keep following this guy or peel off and join the other flock?"

Or perhaps… These were only practice flights for the migration yet to come. Perfecting the aerodynamic V formation essential to the three thousand kilometer journey they will undertake when instinct beckons.

And then again… Could it simply be that they were indulging in the pure joy of flying? Such hubris to presume that only human beings have the ability to frolic and play.

What if… The significance of this seeming contradiction was nothing more than to remind me that there are many sides to every story. And that every side partakes of truth in some degree.

Two flocks of geese passing in the October sky. A random act of metaphor to open my mind to the possibility of other points of view.

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy." ~ William Shakespeare, Hamlet.
