What drives a writer to write? In my case, many factors, but mainly that my mind was driving me mad — too intense, too complex — i had to channel it or die…as the mystical Christ said, if you do not use what you are given, it will destroy you…that was certainly true for me..thank you so much Kate Jack for a fabulous post and to Chris Graham….

Writers are extraordinary people, no matter what the genre. They are driven to depict worlds, impart knowledge, and create, or write about characters that are real or imaginary. But what makes them do it? What makes them want to share their work?
One answer is, ego. We all have one, no matter what our occupation is. But that aside, what else makes a writer write? Is it that our minds are so full of images and ideas that if we don’t write them down, our heads will explode? Possibly. Creativity is a powerful impulse, to ignore it is folly.
Life, for most of us, would be so dull without it. It takes away greyness and replaces it with colour. It helps to transcend mundanity and widen horizons, leads to new vistas, and all the thrills and spills that entails.
So long live creativity, may it ever continue to reign :D
