The Changeling was spooky, but the Reaper constantly hunting you had me looking over my shoulder while reading the Elfstones and after too!

The Reaper was by far the most terrifying to me. There's something deeply unsettling to me about a creature that is completely silent and impossible to see coming. And the fact that it keeps coming and coming until it captures it's prey just makes it even more nightmare-inducing.
The Reaper is evil, no question. Still, I think the Jachyra and Illdatch is even worse, although the Elfstones has always been my favorite Terry Brooks book.
The Reaper is an absolutely bada$$ villain. Funny thing is that while I was young I just thought him to be very cool, kinda like Vader. When I re-read the book as an adult, I found him to be genuinely scary. He reminds me a little bit of the Terminator from the original movie and of Michael Myers from Halloween because he is absolutely unstoppable, but of course, more charismatic because of his Nazgul look. The Jachyra on the other hand was a hideous and repulsive creature and probably the villain I hated most.
But I vote for the Reaper, because he is cooler :)
