It’s hard to convey what it means to me to see the new Fela doc, Finding Fela. I got to see him perform a few times during my stay in Nigeria back in the day, and the arresting memory of him has stayed with me across the decades; no surprise that he found his way into my new novel. I’m so thrilled that the world is getting to know better who Fela was, and what he meant to post-colonial, African revolution.
