Notes From A Crappy Musician Vol. 1

Writing, whether fiction or non-fiction, involves creativity. As with any creative outlet, writing is an art form of sorts, and many people who write have other creative interests or talents.  That said, while it isn't necessarily a talent, I have, in the past, enjoyed making music.  Recently, I came up with a couple song ideas, but have already abandoned them due to the fact that I'm not interested in taking the time to become reacquainted with my recording  software that hasn't been touched in a couple years.

However . . .

I have realized that all the songs I wrote in the past are just sitting there on my computer and on a handful of cd's, doing nothing but existing and taking up space.  And so, I have decided, after a crap-ton of mental effort to overcome the embarrassment and self-doubt of putting my crappy music online(though I did put some songs on MySpace a few years back . . . yeah, MySpace!) that I will start posting an old song every now and then for your listening (dis)pleasure.  Just remember that this is completely DIY stuff on cheap software(not that it'd be that great with better production).

This week's song is Shut-In, one of the last songs I recorded, as well as one of my favorites.  For the most part, it is a simple story of a girl who's shut herself away from the world, yet every time she comes close to breaking out of her self-isolation, she ends up right where she started again.

Enjoy!
