In Christ, You Have Been Rescued from Darkness

For He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. (Colossians 1:13-14)

It seems like everywhere you look today you see pain and suffering. If you don’t believe me, just turn on the evening news. It’s not hard to recognize that the world we live in truly is a kingdom of darkness.

But it’s not what we were created for.

Thankfully, God has rescued us from the darkness through the work of Jesus. He purchased our freedom and forgave our sins, clearing the way for us to be invited into God’s Kingdom—a Kingdom of light.

The Kingdom we were created for.

Once again, notice how this verse is written in the past-tense.

He has rescued us…
[He] transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son…
[Jesus] purchased our freedom…
[Jesus] forgave our sins…

It’s all done friends. We’ve already been rescued. Our home is now in the Kingdom of God’s dear Son.

There’s nothing left for us to do but believe it.
