Hyperion, The Stand, The Martian Chronicles.

Gonna Burn Hyperion — I’ve tried reading a couple of Dan Simmons’s books, and I’ve never felt satisfied with any of the writing. The Terror really pissed me off, and The Hollow Man left me feeling, well, hollow. While I’ve never read Hyperion, out of these three, this is the second easiest choice.

Read The Martian Chronicles — easiest choice. One of my favorite novels ever. Done.

Rewrite The Stand — While I love Stephen King, and I count myself as a Constant Reader, I’ve tried reading The Stand three times — three times! — and I can’t get into the goddamn thing. For whatever reason, Uncle Steve’s take on the apocalypse just starts out goddamn preachy and overly obviously of what’s GOOD and EVIL and who is GOOD and BAD and I just can’t. Add in the fact that it’s hella long — hella motherfucking long — and I would Rewrite this novel in a heartbeat. Make it leaner, make it more ambiguous, make it a little less God and Devil.
