The Newsletter Update!

Al’s not back yet so here I am STILL blogging…sorry.

…but I have an update on the newsletter angle.

Because of some of the previous posts, I can now announce, the book might be featured in the company newsletter!!

How  did the change of heart come about?

Sarah read Al’s “Problogue” post and found out about the newsletter option and how Al was so set against letting me attempt to put an article  about the book in it. Needless to say, she fixed that…basically telling him  that he had to let me at least see if I could get an article in the newsletter…though I think she was a little more colorful in her delivery.

So Al tells me what Sarah said; after I wipe the tears from my eyes (from laughing so hard; like I said she was more colorful) I actually said I wasn’t going to do it. I knew he was agreeing under duress, kinda, and I still wanted him to have some say in the advertising strategies that I was trying to come up with. But, nope, he wouldn’t hear of it; he told me to go for it, kept on drumming it in to the point I said ok, ok, fine! It was the only way to shut him up about the subject.

His thinking was that even if I was able to get an article in the newsletter, it would be published around the time he was away on his honeymoon anyway. By the time he got back, people would have forgotten about the article…sigh.

Since I knew he wasn’t really keen I kept him completely in the dark as to how the newsletter angle was coming along, I wasn’t going to bring it up for fear he would change his mind. However, I did send him the blurb I was hoping to get published in the newsletter; I wanted him to proof it if nothing else. I shouldn’t have bothered. Instead of the usual “red pen” treatment all over my literary genius, he said it was great! Yeah, that wasn’t a good sign…at that point I decided to keep him as far away from this particular venture as possible.

So I sent off to the newsletter contact with said blurb on the book, with close to nothing about the author. I received a reply a few days later saying that this wasn’t a “story” that they would typically put in the newsletter but the editorial team would decide.

It’s been a couple of days now and the deadline for submissions has come and gone and I haven’t heard back. My hope is that they decided to publish it; if they decided not to they would have told me…right?

Somehow, the newsletter came up while talking to Al and I told him where things were. I mentioned who I had contacted about the article and where things stood. He wanted names! So he could stop the release…HAHAHAHAHAHA…funny! I think he was kidding, but I told him he was too late. But I made the mistake of telling him that the newsletter contact was on his side of the pond and he might actually know the person…he didn’t, though he wanted a last name! Why?

His bud, who knows everyone, might know the contact and he might be persuaded to see if he could get the article pulled if it was being considered. See, after telling me…no demanding that I go the newsletter route (only so that Sarah and I would shut up I’m sure) we were now back to this! I so called it.

Anyway, as mentioned, the deadline has come and gone, so now I patiently wait to see if the article will be picked for the newsletter. If it does and he becomes a “mini celebrity” at work, say a prayer for us; Sarah and I might need protection :)

Patiently waiting….LSF :)
