Personally I think the people who whine about this are entitled, and if they really need gay characters in their fiction so bad, they should go ahead and write their own stories. Put your money where your mouth is instead of shitting all over an author who

Everything you’re saying has been said a million times before. And you know what? People DO write those stories. But damned if they don’t have a really really hard time getting them published. People don’t usually embrace something until it becomes popular, or is slipped into something already popular. It’s human nature. Funny thing though. GRRM is much more polite about the issue than some of his fans like you are, and actually acknowledges that he’s older white straight man, and that he probably has been affected by that status without realizing it.

And the idea that it’s only middle-class teenagers on tumblr who care about these issues is pretty silly. I’m not middle-class and I’m far from a teenager. I could say the same about so many of my followers, and people I follow.

You may not care about an issue, but thousands, millions, of others people do. Respect that.
