The Ghost Brigades (Old Man's War, #2) The Ghost Brigades by John Scalzi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Doesn't posses the impact of the first novel 'The old mans war.' This doesn't stop it being an excellent read.

This time around, the focus of the book is more about the politics of coexisting with aliens, and the concept of slavery, which is still a huge problem in the 2014, never mind the future.

Would you every imagine, this would be true in the futuristic, 2000's?

Human clones, genetically ramped up to be super soldiers, unquestionable fight, every other sentinel, technology advance species in space, for real estate.

Its sad, but all the wonderment of first contact, has been banished for the stark reality of a fight to expand. All advancements are military, and peace, and coexistence with other species is look upon as problem.

Not a great look at the future, but there is a part of me, looking at the strife taking place at the present time in the world, that see's this version of the future as an uncomfortable reality of our inability to get along with anyone!

There is more to the book than just these premiss I have outlined, but for me the points I have highlighted, shaped the texture of the text, leaving me just a little bit sad! :-(
