It’s a new day…

Every morning when I wake, I say to myself “it’s a new day”. I’ve done it for years and it works for me.

My yesterday’s have amazing memories but, they also have some really crappy ones. I discovered a few years ago that if I drag the crappy memories into each new day soon each day is filled with crap.

Letting it go is a talent, and it takes a lot of effort. There are some things that are easier of course like a driver cutting you off in traffic, an argument, or a problem at work.

I try hard not to let hate find a place in my heart. But sometimes it takes so much effort it is exhausting. I don’t believe in wasting energy on hating people, it’s counterproductive. There are situations, moments, and things that have happened in life that I don’t like but I try hard not to let them take over my life.

My life events include my daughters death, daily chronic pain, divorce, and many other things that I have not found strength to discuss yet. Although I could CHOOSE to dwell on the negatives, I CHOOSE to carry with me love for my sons, grandchildren, new love for my husband, and respect for myself.

I love the possibilities of what is to come and I cherish the moments that have been my past.
