Rebecca's original story in this book was a favourite of mine under another title. I nagged her into a rewrite, and I'm very glad I did. Several versions later, Touching the Wire is one of the most powerful books I've ever had the privilege to read, even if I did cause her to stamp off in a huff now and again! I know Rebecca has pre-orders and I shall be adding my name to the list. Books on a Kindle look so different from proof-reading copies on a laptop screen. A "not-to-be-missed" book.

Thank you, Sarah. It's the most challenging book I've ever written. It began life as The Daughters of Night, then an agent suggested altering the emphasis (to great effect) and it became In The Shadow of the Wolf. For some forgotten reason, I then altered it to The Sepia Girl, a title I love but which agents thought wasn't strong enough, so Touching the Wire was born. All the titles are apt in their own way and touch on different aspects of the story. The research had me in tears, and often I had to walk away from it, but the testimonies of the brave survivors, and the way they portrayed their experiences without bitterness, drove me to complete it. Their stories had to be told to a new generation. It's a subject that put my own life into perspective.
