So real I can touch it

WWNNcopyGuess what dropped on my desk yesterday! The very first copy of THE WITCH WITH NO NAME, and is it ever beautiful. I’ve always said I’m a tactile person, (as in must touch, must touch!) and this one went all the way with raised print that bumps under your fingers in gold, and red and black. The inside has its own surprise with actual blue butterflies at every chapter beginning. Blue. Can you believe it? The book itself under the dust jacket is a bright cheery yellow, which I’ve never had before and which I think is interesting because I’ve been gravitating to gold/red this year in my garden and wardrobe. But I think what I like most beyond the color scheme is the balance on the cover. Rachel has power, (power that she didn’t have to change who she is to find) but the man on the cover has power as well. This works for me on all kinds of levels, and I don’t think I’ll ever have a book whose balance I appreciate more.

So I’m going to thank Diana Gill for this, because I know she is the one that fought for all the bells and whistles even though her name wasn’t on the note that came with the book. Thanks, Diana. It looks beautiful, and feels even better.

If you are interested in having blue butterflies on your copy, make sure you get a first edition. I’ve been told it’s only the first print run that will have them.
