Ah, thank you so much, Susan! I'm glad you told me. And personally, I think a bit of realism makes the moments more intense when they reach fruition. Of course, the fart wasn't meant to be more than a metaphor but it serves. The idea is we create people and not characters, and sometimes people do odd things. It is what endears them to us, right?

In my first novel about mid-life adolescence or middle-aged courting, I gave one of the characters an AHEM moment - a fart so loud the other character couldn't even ignore it for politeness' sake. In the sequel, it happens again in a different setting. Seems most people think farts are funny. Still, others get offended - just goes to show you can't please everyone. Great ratings and reviews on your book, BTW - impressive!
