Sherlock Holmes vs Caina Amalas

I’ve been watching the court battles over the public domain status of Sherlock Holmes with interest.

I have to admit, my interest is not entirely selfless. I read the Holmes stories in one massive chunk when I was in college lo these many years ago, so Holmes naturally was one of the influences on Caina and THE GHOSTS. Someday I would like to write a Holmes pastiche where he meets a Victorian-era version of Caina. However, I would like to do that without getting sued, so for now the idea remains shelved.
