Excerpt-Brett and Hannah, 2nd Edition
Here is an excerpt from Brett and Hannah, 2nd Edition (Soul Mates 101 series, Book 2).
Brett's POV: This is one of the few times Brett ends up coming to Hannah's rescue.
“You’re going with me.” “Like hell I am.” “You know you want to, shortcake, so shut it.” I flip her upside down over my shoulder as adrenaline surges through my veins.“Put me down, Brett.” “No, you’re going home with me where I can keep your ass safe.” “I mean it. Put me down!”I’m almost to the door when her so called friend, Nick, steps in front of me.“I don’t know who you think you are, but you can’t carry her out of here like that. She doesn’t want to go with you, so put her down, or I’m calling the cops.”His eyes are narrowed, but I see the fear in them. “Get out of my way before you need an ambulance instead. You obviously don’t care too much about her, or you wouldn’t have pulled her away from me earlier only to leave her with that groping asshole.” I point back to the dick on the couch, who appears in shock, and I notice the silence in the room. With one push, I shove Nick out of the way and hurry out the door as Hannah hits my back with her purse. “I told you to put me down!”Our friends follow us out, and I’m bleeding anger, trying to figure out what to do next. Hannah continues to protest, hitting me hard.“Brett, you’re going to end up with a restraining order against you,” Dylan says. “Did you forget in the last ten minutes who she is? Her family could have your nuts in a second and serve them to you on a platter in prison. I believe you’ve lost your damn mind.”“What are going to do with her?” Matt asks urgently. “I’m taking her to our place.” The guys stare at me with surprised expressions. “Yes, you heard me correctly. She’s going home with me.”
Matt's POV:
I’m pissed. Brett is normally cool, calm and collected. I don’t like the out of control behavior I’m seeing from him. “Can we take her friend’s home?” he asks.“I guess. Get them in the damn car. We need to get out of here before that guy calls the cops.”Cody drives Austin, Chelsea, and Dylan home. One of her other friends comes around to get into the car where I’m standing at the driver’s side, so I hold the door open for her.“Wow, you’re really hot … Brett’s friend,” she says, staring up at me. I smirk. “My name’s Matt, and you’re pretty hot yourself.” Her alluring gaze is sinful as hell and so is her body.“I’m Morgan.”Brett drops Hannah to the ground on the passenger side and points to the car. “Get in the backseat.”“What if I don’t want to leave with you?”“What would you rather do? Do you want to go back inside and get felt up by that perv? It sure didn’t look like you were too thrilled about it, but I’m beginning to think you’re trying to earn gold stars on a school paper for how many guys you can get to treat you like shit.”“Then I get the biggest gold star for you.” She wipes a few tears away, and I’m seriously about to kick Brett’s ass.“Get in the damn car before I get back there with you,” he demands.Hannah groans and lets her other friend in before climbing inside behind her. Brett jumps in the front, and I’m given directions to Morgan’s house first.I have to get out, so she can exit the backseat, and as soon as she starts to walk away, I turn her around by the arm, sending her right up against my chest.Grabbing her face with both hands, I crash my lips to hers. Warm arms wrap around my waist, and Morgan seems eager as ever for more. We share a heated kiss before I let go of her mouth and stare down into her heavy, brown eyes.“Dang, there are boy kisses and man kisses, and that was definitely a man kiss.”Her friend with the natural tan and long dark hair leans her head out of the car and grins at me.“Hi, I’m Jasmine. Morgan, shut up. You’re smashed and making a fool of yourself,” she says before sitting back in the seat.“That was a thank you for the compliment you gave me,” I say to Morgan before getting back into the vehicle. When I take a glimpse in the side mirror, I see her standing in the driveway, staring toward my car. She’s pretty damn cute.
