Something to pass along
I love to watch old western, some of my favorite are of "the Duke," John Wayne or Audie Murphy, now I am not all that old to have seen these movies when they were first released but sometime sit down with your children and watch them, its good clean all American fun.
A lot of our heritage like these old movies will soon be just memories take for instance the old radio programs back before television, families would gather around in the house that had a radio, be it a neighbor or family and listen to these stories that would play upon the imagination, (I still listen to them from time to time even to this day,) like the old comedians Jack Benny, Gracie Allen and George Burns just true funny clean humor, I hope to be able to get my son listening and watching these things with me someday because when he is old enough for school no one will have ever heard of these great comedians but he will and he will be able to pass some of these cultural beginnings on to the next generation, it's up to us to see that the good wholesome things of the past do not get trampled out by the vulgarity that seems to be taking their place on TV and in the movie houses, we can still enjoy things without seeing a nude person on the movies screen, or hearing vowel language on the television set.
So while your child is still young sit down and listen to the radio or watch an old movie and instill something in him that others his age will possibly never know about. It's not something that is of a dyer importance but something that you and your child can share together and its something with more substance than just a video game or sending them to a friend's house so think about it.
Another past time that is all but gone is story time with parents, I love books especially the classics such as Sherlock Holmes, Jekyll and Hyde, and Tom Sawyer and others, and I want my son to know who these characters are as well. Children are the future of our country and it will be up to them to carry on what we have to share, and if we don't do it then who will?
