Wordsmith– I also write books

You may have heard that a week after adding 795 titles in a deal with Mason Crest, Start Publishing has acquired Whiskey Creek Press and its main romance imprint, Torrid. The purchase includes 775 titles, all available as e-books with some also released in print editions through print-on demand.

With its purchase, Start said it will beef up WCP’s marketing initiatives, including expanding its social media and online presence. Start has also promoted Jan Janssen from executive editor to publisher of Torrid Books. In other personnel changes, Melanie Billings and Marsha Briscoe are now senior acquisition editors for WCP and Angela Archer is senior art director.

I’m honoured my contemporary romantic suspense, A KEY TO ALL THAT GLITTERS, is among the titles chosen by Start Publishing. Cover artist, Ginger Heaston, and editor, Melanie Billings, understood heroine Heatherlee Baranova’s dilemma. Balancing her yoga spa and raising twins, the young widow is slammed by her late husband’s sketchy past.  His partner,  a female ex-con, demands a key to a safe deposit box.  Heatherlee knows nothing about it.  When her spa Clearwater is robbed, the police investigation is headed up by Sheriff Marc Durant, a sheep rancher from the silkiest gentry in town.  The last thing she wants is for him to prove dirty money built Clearwater.  Marc knows her problems with a Russian theft ring will escalate beyond bad press and the spa’s bottom line.  What he doesn’t know is the former wallflower married her husband because he looked like him!
