Easy Fudge Cake

This cake is the best chocolate cake I've tasted in years and very easy to make. Try it. I'm sure you'll be delighted!

1 cup mini chocolate chips (divided)
1 pkg. 2-layer chocolate cake mix
1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding
4 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup water
1 tub (8 oz) frozen whipped toppping
2 Tablespoons sliced almonds
