Colin Baker Talks Five(ish) Doctors Sequel

Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker, has spoken about the possibility of a sequel to 50th anniversary special, The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.

Paul McGann, aka the Eighth Doctor, previously mentioned that a follow-up was in the pipeline, and Baker confirms at least some interest in the idea. At the London Film and Comic Con 2014, he said, “All I know is when I last spoke to Peter [Davison], the reaction to Five-ish Doctors has been so positive that we discussed whether it was a good idea to do another one and we agreed that we didn’t want to do one that was a pale imitation of the first. That would be anti-climatic.”

Quite rightly, he says it all depends on story: “We have to come up with a really good idea first. There’s a couple of possibilities floating around, but nothing is set in stone,” he added. “Clearly doing one about the 51st anniversary isn’t going to be interesting. It’s got to be about something else.”

It was confirmed earlier today that The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot (starring, written and directed by the wonderful Peter Davison, and featuring a whole host of Who cast and crew, including Sylvester McCoy, Steven Moffat and Matt Smith) would be released on DVD and Blu-ray with various 50th anniversary celebrations like The Day of the Doctor, The Science of Doctor Who and Night of the Doctor.

Five(ish) might also be an award-winner; it’s been nominated for a Hugo award! “I’m particularly pleased about The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot as that was my acting debut,” says showrunner, Steven Moffat. “I remain available for any parts requiring a black jumper and slightly unrealistic hair.”

The ceremony is held on 17th August – just a few days before the Series 8 premiere! – and is hosted by sci-fi writers, Justina Robson and Geoff Ryman.

What do you think, dear readers? Any ideas for a Five(ish) sequel? Personally, I’d like to see Matt Smith taking on a bigger role in it, alongside his fellow Doctors, trying to get in on the 10th anniversary of NuWho
