In the interim
Writers often have large gaps in their writing lives where one book has been released and the next is still under consideration. This doesn't mean we stop writing, far from it but it does mean there is time to potter about and finish back burner projects or try a different genre.
My husband and I have just returned from a month in Italy which is one way of filling that writing downtime. (Check out my FB author page for photos.) Recharging the creative batteries is important and now I'm back at home ready to go.
At the moment I'm completing a cosy mystery simply because I enjoy that genre but quite a few readers commented on my recent romantic suspense release Evidence of Love that they'd love to read my heroine's brother Ivan's story. Strangely Ivan had never occurred to me as needing his own book but those comments have me thinking seriously about it. I did like him a lot when writing the book and I couldn't bear to make him a complete stinker. He has his reasons.
I also have a nearly completed version of a companion book to my contemporary romance E For England featuring Annie's friend Leonie, the commitment-phobe with the A to Z chart of lovers who finds her match in James.
So, between releases there is plenty to keep me occupied at my desk.
