Horror Injuries Did Not Stop Her
Today I salute a true champion, Chemmy Alcott [full story here ],
At age 12 she broke her neck while on the slopes. She had two vertabrae fused. This did not stop her loving and competing in downhill races. In fact she went on to come 11th in the Turin Olympics of 2006.
Then in a five year span she tore knee ligaments,had surgery on both feet, broke her ankle and right foot. She kept going.
In 2010 she snapped her right leg in two places while training in Canada. While on the mend she lost all her funding. So she did what she did. Chemmy got on the phone and cold called anyone and everyone who would listen to her. She built relationships,got sponsorship and learned how to become a businesswoman in spite of everything that had occurred to her.
She knew what she loved to do and come hell or high water she was going to achieve her dreams. Her aim was to be in Sochi competing in the 2016 winter olympics. Guess what, six months before they started, she broke her lower right leg. Yes sir, more broken bones,more time out to recover with very little time for practice.
Chemmy Alcott went to the 2016 winter Olympics. In the downhill race, she finished 19th out of 42 competitors. Against all odds Chemmy achieved her goal.
Right now,take a look at your business, your life. What little things are holding you back from reaching your goal. Fear,indecision,procrastination, other people's opinions. What is stopping you from stepping up to the plate and taking a swing ? How many bones have you broken and how many set-backs have you overcome. Because the only person you need to believe them is you. And once you believe your excuses, well say goodbye to your hope, dreams and ambitions.
