Let none call you Barren

Gen 46:20 And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him. Gen 46:21 And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard. Gen 46:22 These are the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen

Rachel at a time was written off as barren … later she receives mercy and gives birth to Joseph. She eventually dies giving birth to Benjamin. A sad story …she was late in being fruitful but her life was pivotal to the history of Israel. Her first son has only two sons, but Joseph becomes the strategic lever that delivers Israel from a seven year famine. Benjamin has ten sons. The souls that came through Rachel are counted as 14. Have things appeared to be late for you? Did you start too late? Like Rachel’s life was suddenly terminated at birth of her son … have your dreams been suddenly cut off. Do not despair. Reflect that much fruitfulness came after her death. Still I pray that God will cause you to enjoy fruitfulness in your lifetime and not after your death.

Imagine the joy for Joseph who did not know his mother … if Rachel had been there to share the days of glory. You will not sow and another reap. You will be blessed and see the glory of God at work in your lifetime. You will be fruitful beyond your dreams in your lifetime. Out of your seed, God will raise an army for Himself. Those who wrote you off once will be amazed at the unprecedented turnaround in your situation. You will not die a premature death nor will anyone reading this devotional die at child birth. All your deliveries will be attended by divine midwives … angels assigned by God to help. Your sons will not become street urchins or drop outs … they will be successful.

Your blessings will be counted and you will say – see what the Lord has done.

Song.

Count your blessings, name them one by one

Count your blessings see what God has done

Count your blessings; name them one by one

And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

Prayer: Lord, Let it be said that God has been good to me in His blessings. Give me all round fruitfulness. Amen

The Songs of Joseph is an integration of encouragement scriptural devotions, prayers and a compendium of songs of mercy, salvation, new beginnings and victory. We can expect as we trust and obey that our end will indeed be ultimately glorious because God works His marvellous agenda. Be blessed as you read and sing along, daily. Edited by Bolade Apampa
