The nice thing about having a fantasy is that the owner is in control of what happens, when it happens and can change the course of the fantasy at will.  It’s safe.  It works for the moment and yet in the long run it is, paradoxically, unfulfilling.

 

Now, what if you could find that person who could be entrusted to guide both you and the fantasy into reality?   You would discover, as Madison did, that it’s not about the fall.  It’s about the catch. 

 

And oh my, “Catch Happens”!   Logan has been taking Daegan lessons, I am certain, because, you know…wow!  

 

And yet, in vintage Joey W. Hill fashion, it’s so much more than that.  Trusting someone else is actually more about trusting yourself.   Letting go, and even failing, is to learn precious lessons along the way, not the least of which is your own strength.   Would that we all had the internal strength of a Madison to explore, and the confident insight of a Logan.   Happiness, thy name is…me!

 

I adored this series.   Even in parts, it read like a typically superb Joey Hill novel to me, and while I could still wish it were in one volume, the absolute skill and perfection of the writing and the storytelling, trumps format.  

 

I am an admitted ‘Hillophile’.    I have never failed to appreciate a Hill offering, even when I found it difficult to appreciate a specific character, or the character of a character.   There is an incomparable depth of world, person and emotion in every story, and I always come away…enriched.

 

I fully appreciate this series and all who reside in her!   I could not recommend a read, or series of reads, more heartily.
