The meditation challenge~ What are you thankful for?

Today I find myself thinking deep thoughts. I’m not the person who I want to be just yet, but I’m working toward it and content with my progress. I think self-improvement is a lifelong thing, and of course, no one is perfect. Sadly that’s all too easy to forget in the hustle and bustle that’s life these days. We’re so busy rushing, multi-tasking, and making a living we often forget to just be and love who are in this moment in time.

I have a meditation exercise I do at least twice daily. Every morning when I wake and just before bed, no matter how rough a time I’ve had, because let’s face it we all have those days we wish we could hit the restart button on, I take stock of what I’m grateful for. I give thanks for my blessings, and focus on my goals and my accomplishments, no matter how big or how small. I send out that positive energy and start and end my days on a good note. The amazing thing about this whole process has been the self-discoveries I’ve made.

Today I’m thankful for what makes Shyla Shyla. The quirkiness, passion, the oddities, and faith all swirl together in the pool of mystical essence that is our makeup. If I could go back and tell myself anything when I was younger it would be embrace who you are, for it’s the key to your happiness. If you don’t like something change it, but never let anyone make you feel bad about yourself. Self-doubt is a parasite that will suck out all the joy in your life if you let it. Regrets change nothing. It’s learning from the mistakes you make that really matters.

It’s a rare and beautiful thing to own who you are, know what you want and have the fire to go for it. That will shake people. Friends will reveal themselves as enemies, and people will try to latch on to you. I think the brighter you shine, the more you attract others, and that’s not always a good thing. Know yourself, trust your instincts, and never be afraid to leave behind anything that doesn’t grow you in some way and brings you down.

These are my truths. I challenge you to do the daily double of meditation for just one week, and tell me what you discover.

Shy
