Whether it’s cultural barriers or societal sexism, super women have had to fight more than just crime in order to survive. Join esteemed creators Genese Davis (The Holder’s Dominion; MMORPG.com; The Gamer In You) Adrianne Curry (Reality TV personality; Spokeswoman; Model; Winner - America’s Next Top Model) Michele R. Wells (Disney Publishing Worldwide; DK Publishing; Penguin) and Adam Simon (Man Down; Synapse) as they discuss the challenges and obstacles to creating relevant female protagonists, the influence female heroes possess in pop culture, and how the entertainment industry is evolving at large.
Genese Davis
Genese Davis is an American author, host, columnist and media personality. She is the author of The Holder’s Dominion, a next-generation thriller heralded as a breakthrough novel by Publishers Weekly. Davis is the founder of The Gamer In You and was recently awarded iGR Woman of the Year. Her writing expertise expands across various literary genres including thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, gamer-lit, new adult, and young adult, along with screenplay, playwriting, video game lore, characterization, and narrative. Davis is an in-demand host, speaker, and moderator, appearing internationally for TV, web-series, conventions, academic fairs, publishing workshops, as well as literary and entertainment expos. Adrianne Curry
Adrianne Curry is an American model, reality TV personality and spokeswoman. As the first winner of the reality television series America’s Next Top Model, she has modeled for several magazines, including Life & Style Weekly, Us Weekly, Star, OK!, Stuff, People, Maxim, Spanish Marie Claire, Von Dutch, Von Dutch Watches, Salon City, Macy’s, Famous Stars and Straps, Lucky, Ed Hardy, Kinis Bikinis, Beverly Hills Choppers, and Merit Diamonds. Curry was a co-host on the television game show Ballbreakers. In 2006, she appeared on Gameshow Marathon as a celebrity panelist on the Match Game episode. Curry hosted live coverage of Blizzcon for Direct TV in 2011, as well as Hosting live from E3 for Namco Bandai in both 2011 and 2012. Most recently, Curry has teamed up with comic book legend Stan Lee to create her show “Superfans” for his new YouTube channel, Stan Lee’s World of Heroes. “Superfans” began airing each week on YouTube in October 2012. Michele R. Wells
Michele R. Wells is a versatile editor and writer with nearly two decades of experience in publishing, both in multimedia and in print. An expert in conceptualizing and developing content, she has edited illustrated content for DK Publishing, lifestyle nonfiction (entertainment/pop culture, foreign language, travel, film, food/wine, diet, self-help, music, humor, technology, and light reference) for Penguin, and business self-help for McGraw-Hill, as well as educational nonfiction for children and young adults for Pearson, The Princeton Review, and others. She is currently a senior digital media editor at Disney Publishing Worldwide, where she has written scripts for numerous award-winning apps and interactive products. Adam Simon
Adam Simon is a native Californian that began acting at an early age. Fresh out of college minoring in theater Simon began working as a Close Protection Specialist. While training as an actor, Simon offered protective services to business professionals and celebrities all around the world. In 2010 Simon was hired as a 3D technical assistant at Cameron/Pace Group LLC in Burbank California (founded by legendary directors and cinematographers James Cameron and Vince Pace). He worked as a Sales Producer for Cameron/Pace while attending the Joanne Baron D.W. Brown School of acting in Santa Monica California to further develop his craft. While attending their two year intensive Meisner Program, he continued to write and sell scripts. Simon acts in film and television productions and continues to develop his innate talent as an actor and screenwriter. Simon wrote and starred in “Synapse,” a Sci Fi thriller which is produced by Hollywood Locations and L.A. Center Studios with Kenlon Clark Directing.
