now ive been pointing out ways that alex elle has been mimicking nayyirah for months. but seeing this… wow. she went from one style last year of multiple pieces on a page, little ornamental doodles etc. to replicating the aesthetic that nayyirah used on her first book. im not saying nayyirah is the only person in the world to use that sort of formatting, but what i am saying is its very ironic that after posting how much she “loves” salt. alex went on to, yet again, mimic.

artists, what do you think about the question that this person posed at the top? if you are known to use a specific lyrical, illustrative, sketching style etc. and someone that you share a creative sphere with went on to adopt it as their own, how would you feel?

This just popped up on my Tumblr. Unsure as to how I feel about it. As woc artists, we need more solidarity.
