Amanda Mrs. Miller,
I just wanted to let you know that I had never heard of Speak until I read your tweets about this. I was fortunate enough to find it and Wintergirls at our local book fair, and purchased both. While both are about "forbidden" topics, they are topics that do need to be addressed. Thank you for opening my eyes to this wonderful author and for standing up and saying, this isn't right.

Janine No way...!!!!! I am a middle school reading teacher and these events due happen. It is a wonderful book that has a powerful message that needs to be heard. Anderson is my favorite author and I recommend her stories and have used her novels with students. There is no reason for any of her books to be banned anywhere. That is just ignorance. I hate when good authors are banned because of studpidity. You may not feel that your child is ready for something like that, but speaking from a middle school point of view...it's out there so talk to them about it.
