I Used to Hate Reading

Here is a random, short and sweet post for you all!

When I was little I absolutely loved to read, my nose was always stuck in a book. Then I decided I no longer wanted to read, because I wanted to write. I thought reading took time away from my writing. I never thought I could love both, I thought I had to love one or the other. I didn’t want to be a reader, I wanted to be a writer. After years of studying writing on the web and in books on writing, there was this absurd thing that I kept reading over and over that goes something along the lines of this, “in order to be a fucking writer, you have to read. Dumb ass.” So, it took me a little while to actually believe this and I started reading again. Yes, books that caught my attention and were not a requirement for class. I’m currently reading four different books, and within the next month I will FINALLY be sending my manuscript in to a publishing house, in hopes of getting a book deal. In the last year, my reading has quadrupled and my writing has doubled. It’s true! YOU REALLY DO HAVE TO BE A READER IN ORDER TO BE A WRITER!
