Project: For the past eight years, DTE Energy converted some of its land into gardens managed by Gleaners Community Food Bank to grow fresh produce vital to basic nutrition. The harvest feeds needy people through Gleaners’ partnerships with neighborhood food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters & social service agencies. Currently, there are four gardens in the metro-Detroit area that collectively amount to 2 acres. This garden network is referred to as DTE Energy Farm. Harvested crops from the Westland garden goes to the Lighthouse Home Missions pantry.
