What to do when troubled.

Gen 45:4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.

What do you do when you sense troubles in your spirit. When you feel overwhelmed and suddenly out of words ..when you do not know what to do? The answer is to come nearer to Jesus. Coming nearer to Jesus could imply many things … separation from other and previous centers of focus. It could be taking time off to be alone with God or just being silent before Him or worshipping and resting in His presence. This does not seem to appease the trouble but it will allow comfort from the wells of God’s presence bringing a relief we cannot explain.

When we come near to Jesus, we discover a love, grace and forgiveness that disarms us. Soon we wonder why we need be troubled in the presence of such power and might that offers a hand of friendship. We discover that the king of all Kings is also our brother and our friend. As we get closer and sense the dwellings under His mighty shadow, our troubles begin to vanish, and our fears begin to fade. But God must draw us close to Him … He invites us and awaits our response … to end our troubles and find the rest that we need. He also corrects us, chastens us and His sayings will be hard … but we can sense that this is the truth that sets free.

Song.

Draw me close to You

Never let me go

I lay it all down again

To hear You say that I’m Your friend

You are my desire

No one else will do

‘Cause nothing else could take Your place

To feel the warmth of Your embrace

Help me find the way

Bring me back to You

You’re all I want

You’re all I’ve ever needed

You’re all I want

Help me know You are near

Prayer: Lord, draw me closer to you and calm my troubled heart. Amen
