I Am

Gen 45:3 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.

Joseph tells his brethren … I am Joseph. God revealed himself to Moses who feared to begin his assignment as was commissioned ..

Exo 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Every things changed when Joseph revealed himself. Their understanding of God changed. Their understanding of themselves and their situations also changed. Their understanding of their mission in life … and in Egypt also changed. Their vision of life and their hopes for tomorrow also changed. The correct revelation of identity affects how we see ourselves and others. For the brothers …the revelation of Joseph as alive and a leader in Egypt proved to be a troubling shock.

God tells Moses to introduce Him as I AM – the everlasting, self-sufficient, self-existent, eternal, inexhaustible. He is the unchangeable, faithful and true God. Joseph declares that God has protected him, helped him, sustained him and eventually promoted him. Joseph declares that there is a supreme all-knowing ever powerful intelligence that watches over His purposes and causes His will to prosper. Joseph reveals in this troubling revelation that they cannot stop what God has purposed and men do not present any threat to the Most High God in the very least. At this stage in history, knowledge of God was somewhat limited … and the brothers of Joseph do not know how to answer … they oscillate between sheer disbelief and wonder …can it be true was the question on their mind. I pray God will reveal himself to you in a way that silences all opposition to simply bow and honor Him. Praise the great I AM.

Song.

God of earth, God of sky: Lord, on Thee all things rely.

God of time, God of space: Father Thou of Adam’s race;

Torn from Thee by Adam’s fall, Lord, to Thee we raise the call:

“God of time, God of space, Meet with us in this place.”

Spotless Lamb come for me, Reconcile my debt to Thee.

Sinful men, helpless, lost, With Thy life’s blood paid the cost;

Take away our bent to sin: Wash our hearts and cleanse with in.

Lamb of God slain for me, Lamb of Life, hear my plea.

Bread of Life, Daily Bread, By Thy grace our souls are fed.

Broken once all to feed, Give us strength for ev’ry need.

Blest communion thro’ the Son, All our hearts are knit as one:

Bread of Life, Dai ly Bread, To Thy feast we are led.

King of kings, Lord of lords— Heaven’s anthems shout the chords.

Holy God, Angel Bright; Conqu’ror of the Hosts of Night.

Alleluia! Praise the Lamb! God of Ages, Great “I AM!”

Master, Lord, claim Thine own: Take my heart as Thy throne

Prayer: Lord, Be forever praised… The Great I AM. Amen
