New Beginners Taster Session - 1st Tuesday of every month

I know how hard it can be to walk into a new class, so I've decided to offer a new beginners taster session on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:45-7pm at Vestry Hall, in between our two regular classes.

If you have friends or relatives who would like to try a "mini-scoop" of Zumba Fitness they can now book in for this 15 minute taster.

Congratulations!

To the guys who completed their reward cards this week:

Elisa completed 5 classes!
Lee and Mary both completed 30 classes!
And, drum roll please…
Benita completed a whopping 70 classes!

Carers Group - Relaxation For Busy Minds and Bodies

On 3rd July I will be visiting the Carers Support Merton's women's group to give a book reading and answer Q&A about spa treatments and breaks, including how to get that all important me-time without breaking the bank.

The group is open to any women caring for someone with a long-term condition and aims to offer a little respite plus peer support and social interaction. Even if you're not caring for someone full time, perhaps just supporting a friend or neighbour, you can give Mary Goodwin a buzz on 020 8646 7515 to find out about everything Carers Support Merton has to offer. (It's a lot!)

The group meets on the first Thursday of every month 1:30 - 3.30pm. On 3rd July it will be in the Committee Room at Vestry Hall, but the group also often meets elsewhere, for instance local coffee shops, to vary the scenery.

I am more than happy to visit local groups for book readings and Q&A, so let me know if you need a speaker.

Dementia Hub Opening Merton

I was very privileged to go along to the opening (by Angela Rippon) of the new Dementia Hub in Mitcham.

It’s the national pilot for this type of centre, and I’m really excited that we are planning Zumba Gold chair classes as part of the program.

If you or anyone you know is suffering from dementia please do go and check out all the amazing services on offer. It was great to find out about so many things that are going on both locally and nationally, including working with primary school children to educate about this issue. Out of all of the comments made on the day it was the words of a young child that really moved me. When talking about her grandma’s illness she said; “It wasn’t just Grandma that got dementia when she was diagnosed, we all did. Because we’re a team and we all work together to make it better.”

Diary Dates

Friday 11th July - Salsa masterclass - Holistic Fitness

A Special Thank You...

As most of you know I had a bike accident last week and it’s been a bit of a hectic week, squeezing in extra classes, hub launches, visits to the GP, bike shops and the police station. So a big Thank You for all of your support and kindness this week - especially when I was a little bit dizzy. Funnily enough it’s the balancing and stretching that’s been the hardest because of the little bit of whiplash, but fingers crossed I should be back on top form next week!

Much love, Pearl
