Preparing For Our 10-Day Digital Detox

I went for a gloriously long solo hike last weekend. No conversations, no music, no obligations or expectations of any kind; just my backpack, giant water bottle, and inner world.

While I was plowing uphill (it was steep!), my heart throbbing, my breathing deep, and my mind feeling creatively inspired, I decided it was time for an official Digital Detox in my world. Less computer time. Less phone contact. Less social media interactions. More natural highs, peaceful wonders, and simple pleasures. More opportunities for the mind to just be.
Do you remember how you spent your time before always glancing at your phone, or instinctively skimming your Facebook Newsfeed just because its there, or feeling tied to your laptop/iPad/tablet? Honestly, I don't recall that life very well. But I want to. And I can choose to focus my energy back in that direction with conscious intentions.
I'm going to embark on a 10-day Digital Detox starting on the Summer Solstice, June 21, and ending on July 1 (which beautifully corresponds with Mercury retrograde.)
Do you want to join me? This Digital Detox will be realistic - no putting our phones in the freezer! - with the practical purpose of replacing technology time with old-school joys like enjoying trees and leaves, playing outside with abandon, choosing to follow your creative spirit, and paperback books. A Re-Treat, Re-Meet, Re-Turn to You.
If you feel ready for a Digital Detox and you'd like to do this too, I'll send more details shortly via email about how we can do this together. The approach will be practical and applicable to our busy every-day reality, yet we'll focus on being absorbed in the five senses version of life instead of the screen version. And there's no need to make big sweeping changes or invest in an exotic retreat; this is the free and easy version that can be implemented right where you are.
And look what I saw taking off from the top of the mountain! A paragliding club with 20+ members was jumping from the peak, riding the warm weather up in spirals, similar to what eagles and hawks do as they soar in the sky. Simply watching them swoop and coast was amazing. Pretty sure not one of them was checking their phone as they lived in the moment and enjoyed the full vista.
