More Game of Thrones
What will I do when there are no Game of Thrones diversions to fill in on those slow medieval history days? Fortunately, that end is not in sight; the series and books have actually become a cottage industry of their own. I was wondering if I was the only one who actually found Cersei likeable, even admirable, in the scene in which she defies her father and wins? I am sure it will never happen again, knowing Cersei as I do, but I was cheering her on. Of course she then had to entrap her brother in her sexual web; I bet I’m not the only one who watched that thinking, “Run, Jamie, run!”

Now I know not all of you are fans of Game of Thrones, as hard as it is for us hard-core addicts to understand—and you’ve been very patient with our obsession. So for you here is a fun story about dads in the animal kingdom, a belated Father’s Day tribute to fathers everywhere; I was lucky enough to have a very special one myself and hope most of you were, too.

I borrowed a copy of the first book from a friend, so I'll try it. Maybe reading about all that snow and ice will help me get through the summer heat waves.

It is 95 degrees here, Steve, so maybe I should consider a re-read of those scenes at the Wall.
Sharon, there are always the graphic novels as a fill-in. You may already know the story but the illustrations are terrific.
I know I've mentioned before that I enjoy Cersei more than most but that scene with Tywin had me gasp and think "This is either the most human, wonderful thing you could do, or the stupidest" which made me appreciate that scene all the more.
I loved the scene between Cersei and Tywin, for once she got the better of him(although for the life of me I can't figure out who is more detestable the father or the daughter?)and then resumed being 'Cersei.' I hope the producers wont try and soften her for she truly is a detestable character.....I hope you don't mind Sharon but I'd thought you might like to read this?

I love rescue stories like this, Rebecca. There is so much cruelty and suffering in the world that we need to be reminded there are good people out there, too.
