For my third novel, which I've already written and plan to publish this fall, I've got a bunch of quotes from Einstein about love and relationships. So, I've been going through the process this week of applying for permissions to use them. I had to start with Princeton University Press, which then forwards the info. to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Fingers crossed that they approve it! It's an interesting topic since a U.S. judge recently declared that Einstein is now in the public domain, given that more than fifty years have passed since his death. (That's why GM won a lawsuit over this for use of an Einstein image in an ad -- read about it here:

But, written copy in a book is different, so I'm going the correct route by applying. Hopefully I'll get a speedy "yes" in response and the novel can move forward!
