Excerpt:

SRUGAR


“Say sugar.”

She looked up to her mother from her 4-year-old being, and said:

“Srugar, Srugar, Srugar.”

“OMG, you are already 4 years old, it would be time for you to say things right, Melanie!” 

“Srugar, Srugar, Srugar.” She took a deep breath and said it again, “Srugar”, while she put 4 or 5 teaspoons of sugar into her tea and whispered: “Sugar? No! Srugar! Srugar! Srugar!”

If she could, she would never say “Sugar”. The word “Srugar” was so beautiful and tickled her mouth while speaking. “Sugar” was boring.

Her mother was busy trying to explain how to say “Sugar” and did not notice the already 5 spoons of sugar in Melanie’s tea.
“Try again, Melanie…SUGAR.”

And Melanie ‘tried’ again and all that came out was:
“Srugar”.

Sometimes, by pure mistake, she forgot and said “sugar”…but this was a rare mistake, which she corrected very quickly, by saying “Srugar”.

So long as she could, she would say the word the way she wanted. 
Mixing the sugar into her tea, she was thinking about things.
How long would they allow her to speak “Srugar”?
Maybe until 6? Her 5-year-old sister Claudia could speak everything perfectly now. All so boringly perfect.
