New George RR Martin interview

Another slow medieval news day, so I’ll fall back on our favorite fantasy medieval world. Here is a link to an interesting interview with George RR Martin, and a link to an equally interesting interview with his editor, who seems to be saying they’d love it if there were an eighth book in the Ice and Fire series Right now, I’d settle for Book Six, but sadly, she still has no idea when it will be published. Lucky we Game of Throners are such a patient lot, right? After all, no one marched on Master Martin’s house with torches and pitchforks when there was a six year gap between books four and five. GRRM does have a great idea about the HBO series, wishing they had thirteen episodes a season instead of only ten, but as he acknowledged, that is not likely to happen because of the high cost of filming the series. They must have saved some money, though, on the CGI dragons; think how expensive it would have been to rent some dragons.

Iset I've heard talk that if the series catches up to the books they will put it on hold and do a prequel - Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon rebelling against the Targaryens.

Sharon I guess that is a better plan than locking GRRM in the cellar and not letting him out till he produces the next book, Isis!

Iset Fortunately I only came to the series last year, and I've only read books 1, 2, and 3, so as of yet I have the luxury of not wringing my hands waiting for the next book. I'm drawing out the reading of books 4 and eventually 5 as long as I can manage, so I won't have to wait as long for book 6!

Sharon I came to the party late, too, Isis, did not start reading till I began watching the HBO series So I had the luxury of racing through the first four books, and only had to wait for the fifth one. Thank heaven, for I think there was a six year wait between the pub of the fourth and then the pub of the 5th!

Sandy A prequel; now that would be fun. I've always wondered what all those scary ancestors of the Starks could add to the story.
