Que Sera and Stuff
This harsh bug-busting diet I’ve been on has taken me down a bit. Quite a bit actually, which is why I haven’t been around the interweb so much lately. I like to think that I’m getting better in small stages, but this is obviously a process that just has to follow its course. It’s amazing the effect on your body what you put in your mouth can have. I’m not giving it up, and I’ll just have to get on with whatever new and interesting symptoms that pop up when they do. I’m feeling really blurgh and feverish right now though, so I’m going to have to forgo my usual zooming for the next couple of days, and try and get back to normal.
I had no choice but to surface to fetch Angus from the airport. It’s only a hundred odd kilometres away, so not normally a big deal to drive. Not so cool this time though. After scaring the daylights out of myself after nearly passing out a couple of times, and driving in rotten gale-force winds bouncing cars around the highway, I mercifully arrived in one piece just in time to meet the plane. No plane though – instead, a phone call from Angus to let me know that it had been turned back just as they were approaching the airport due to problems with the steering. Ack! They had made a full on emergency landing back at Johannesburg, well away from the main runways in a terrifying hair-raising way, with the pilot battling his steering problems as well as incredibly high winds, amid a load of emergency vehicles. Good for him for getting it right! Then they were bussed to another plane which turned out to be heading to a completely different province, turned away – poor wobbly guys, eventually put on one heading in the right direction, and after much angst, landed bopping and boogying in the insane wind without any injuries. It was the scariest wait I’ve ever had, although I must say, after eyeballing those disembarking passengers, not close to as scary as their bloodcurdling trip must have been. I’ll just stay close to the ground for a bit I reckon – the couch it is for a while.
You can never predict what’s going to happen next. I’m always having things happen to slow me down, and then I’m always getting up, dusting myself off, and expecting to carry on with my zooming, but obviously life doesn’t work like that. Never mind. All these little storms pass, so I’ll hopefully be back to crashing around my lovely interweb soon, trying not to break stuff. Snoozeville now though.
