FOR THOSE WHO ARE WAITING FOR LOKI'S RETURN IN WARRIORS
I didn’t start writing I Bring the Fire to redeem Loki. I started writing the series to redeem Chaos. I don’t believe Chaos is the same from one generation to another; hence I turned the story of Loki: Lopt, Lothur, Luthur, and Laugauz, into a story of constant death and reincarnation. Sometimes male, sometimes, female, sometimes an animal, sometimes frost giant, fire giant, or other, in I Bring the Fire Chaos is always in flux. I thought that the Chaos of our modern era is the Chaos of the mind and technology. Looking back at the Gods as portrayed in our myths and legends, I thought if Gods and humans were to meet, this age would be about the conflict between us and them… And not just their magic versus our technology, but their society versus our society.
(SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT)
There’s just one hitch: although I may not have set out to redeem Loki, to many people I did. I’m so glad I got to portray a much maligned character in a light that was sympathetic, even though I hope he was never mistaken for “good” (no matter what Prometheus said).
Some people love the new “Loki”, he is sort of Loki light. He hasn’t had a chance to become old and embittered, and he is a Loki influenced by our modern era, but still a rascal and still a creature of heart more than morals.
A lot of people miss the old Loki though. I don’t want to be misleading, so I feel I need to say, that at least in the main storyline, I don’t intend to bring him back. (Though I do have ideas for telling old stories, and alternate story lines—the quantum multiverse theory lets me do that!) I’m sorry if this is disappointing to some people. Hopefully, it isn’t most people! And for those of you still on the fence after Fates, I hope I win you over by the end of Warriors.
To everyone, thank you for supporting me this far.
