Just to be clear, it IS Filipino.
The Philippines has approximately seven major dialects. Tagalog is simply one of them and it comprises a big percentage of Filipino. Tagalog IS NOT Filipino. Pure Tagalog has words that I, a Bisayan, wouldn’t be able to understand.
Filipino is a language-mix of all the major dialects of the Philippines. So, yes, the term Filipino is, in fact, correct.
