Welcome to June.

This month, or at least, starting with this month, I’m embarking on a bit of an adventure of my own. I’ve written an adventure novel, and currently I’m fleshing out the ideas for further adventures, but when it all comes down to it, I’m a bit of a novice when it comes to knowledge surrounding the adventure genre. Sure, I know Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, and Uncharted, but there are classics that I’ve never experienced. There’s works by H. Rider Haggard, there are adventure games I’ve not played, and there’s newer entries into the genre that I’m unfamiliar with. I’m going to start with two stories in particular: The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, starring Humphrey Bogart, and King Solomon’s Mines, by Haggard. What’s difficult for me is that when I’m writing a story, I try to stick to reading/watching things that are along the lines of the story I’m crafting, so if it isn’t near what I’m working on, I shy away from it. Not this year. The point of all this is that if you folks know of any good adventures — modern, classic, great, awful, etc — let me know. Send me suggestions. I want to see what the field looks like. I want to know and understand what other writers and storytellers are working on. And I want to capture the classic essence of adventure.

Thanks, and welcome to June!
