I should be writing, instead learning blogging

I knew this would happen. I’d scurry down the rabbit hole of blogging and I’d forget all about writing fiction. It’s easy to do, because this site is live. It’s a living, breathing thing and anybody could stumble upon this blog at any moment while searching for more interesting content.

Book publishing is so different than web publishing or social media. Authors create their twisted characters and stories in privacy. We don’t show our creations until they’re “done” or almost done when we hand our baby over to an editor to pick at it, like a piece of cold steak. Would anybody dare write a novel live online? I know of writers who’ve talked about it, how they could easily use Google docs and share their works-in-progress in realtime. Nobody I know of has actually tried it, though. They’re too busy blogging about it.
